Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the TORX® head screws from the lower column cover.
  2. Do not remove the cover.
  3. Allow pivoting of the lower column cover on the upper column cover.

  4. Roll the seal back until the TORX® head screw is exposed.
  5. Remove the TORX® head screw from the shift lever.
  6. Remove the shift lever.
  7. Remove the shift lever seal.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the shift lever seal.
  2. Install the shift lever.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the TORX head screw to the shift lever.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Roll the seal up the lever until the TORX® head screw is covered.
  7. Install the TORX® head screws to the lower column cover.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
