GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The right cargo door contains 2 door ajar switches, one in the latch and one in the body side of the contact plate. The left cargo door has its ajar switch in the body side of the contact plate. The ajar switch in the latch will signal the body control module (BCM) when the door is ajar and not completely latched. The ajar switches in the contact plate will signal the BCM when the door is fully open.

When closed, any of the cargo door ajar switches will send a switched ground signal to the BCM. The BCM will then send a class 2 message to the instrument cluster to display the REAR ACCESS OPEN message.
