Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Utility

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the IP top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. Remove the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 348648  Size: SH
  4. Remove the drivers side accessory housing (1) from the IP.

  5. Object Number: 348641  Size: SH
  6. Remove the IP upper brackets.
  7. Remove the transfer case control module, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement in Transfer Case.

  8. Object Number: 676224  Size: SH
  9. Release the pressure on the headliner wire harness by removing the wire harness retainer (1) from the IP support beam.

  10. Object Number: 698526  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the headliner wire connectors from the junction block located next to the brake pedal.
  12. Remove the wire harness retainers along the windshield pillar.
  13. Follow the routing of the wire harness through the IP and release any wire harness retainers.
  14. Carefully pull out the wire harness from the windshield pillar ensuring that the wire harness does not get caught on any part.
  15. Remove the center trim pillar moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  16. Remove the third pillar trim pillar moldings. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement .
  17. Remove the rear corner trim pillar moldings. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement .
  18. Disconnect the electrical connector to the rear view mirror.
  19. Remove the upper console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  20. Remove the front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  21. Remove the sunshade holders.
  22. Remove the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  23. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  24. Remove auxiliary climate control console assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement - Front in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  25. Remove the roof mounted air outlet louver by turning counter clockwise in order to remove the retainer.
  26. Remove the retainer.
  27. Remove the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  28. Remove the rear headliner retainers, if needed.
  29. Carefully separate the air duct at the right C-pillar from the headliner.
  30. Carefully separate the headliner from the roof Velcro® retainers.

  32. With the aid of an assistant carefully slide the headliner out through the rear of the vehicle.
  33. Remove the interior dome lamp assembly in order to transfer to the new headliner. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the interior dome lamp assembly to the new headliner.

  2. Object Number: 590175  Size: SH
  3. With the aid of an assistant carefully slide the headliner in through the rear of the vehicle.
  4. Secure the headliner to the roof Velcro® retainers while aligning the air duct at the right of the third pillar.
  5. Install the retainer through the air outlet louver
  6. Install the air outlet louver by turning clockwise till it is seated in place.
  7. Install the auxiliary climate control assembly. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement - Front in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  8. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  9. Install the interior dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  10. Install the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  11. Install the sunshade holders to the headliner.
  12. Install the front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  13. Connect the electrical connector to the rear view mirror, if needed.
  14. Install the upper console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  15. Install the rear corner trim pillar moldings. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement .
  16. Install the third pillar trim moldings. Refer to Third Pillar Trim Replacement .
  17. Install the center trim pillar moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  18. Carefully route the wire harness through the IP in order to connect the wire to the junction block located next the brake pedal.
  19. Install the transfer case control module, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement in Transfer Case.

    Important: Please ensure that all of the wire harness retainers in the IP and the windshield pillar are all pressed into place in order to prevent rattling during driving.

  21. Press in the wire harness retainer (1) in order to secure the harness.

  23. Connect the headliner electrical connectors to the junction block located next to the brake pedal.

  24. Object Number: 348641  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  25. Install the IP upper brackets.
  26. Tighten
    Tighten the IP upper bracket bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  27. Install the drivers side accessory housing (1) to the IP.
  28. Install the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  29. Install the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  30. Install the IP top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Pickup

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the IP top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 348648  Size: SH
  4. Remove the drivers side accessory housing (1) from the IP.

  5. Object Number: 348641  Size: SH
  6. Remove the IP upper brackets.
  7. Remove the transfer case control module, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement in Transfer Case.

  8. Object Number: 676224  Size: SH
  9. Release the pressure on the headliner wire harness by removing the wire harness retainer (1) from the IP support beam.

  10. Object Number: 698526  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the headliner wire connectors from the junction block located next to the clutch or brake pedal.
  12. Remove the wire harness retainers along the windshield pillar.
  13. Follow the routing of the wire harness through the IP and release any wire harness retainers.
  14. Carefully pull out the wire harness from the windshield pillar ensuring that the wire harness does not get caught on any part.
  15. Remove the center trim pillar moldings, if equipped. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
  16. Remove the rear quarter trim panels, if necessary. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement .
  17. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  18. Remove both front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  19. Remove the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  20. Remove the interior dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  21. Remove the assist handles, if equipped. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  23. Disengaging the front of the headliner from the roof.
  24. If replacing the crew cab headliner remove the rear window from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Window Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  25. Remove the headliner from the vehicle by grasping the headliner on the left and the right sides near the front of the cab

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 276471  Size: SH
  1. With the aid of an assistant install the headliner to the vehicle.
  2. Install the rear window into the vehicle, if removed. Refer to Rear Window Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  3. Install the assist handles, if equipped. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the interior dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Install the rear coat hook, if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  6. Install both front sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Install the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  8. Install the rear quarter trim panels, if needed. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Install the center trim pillar moldings, if equipped. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  10. Carefully route the wire harness through the IP in order to connect the wire to the junction block located next to the clutch or brake pedal.
  11. Install the transfer case control module, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement in Transfer Case.

  17. Install the IP upper brackets.

  19. Connect the electrical connectors to the drivers side accessory housing (1) .

  22. Install the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  23. Install the IP top trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
