Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition, with the key in the ignition.
  2. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the driver door.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM data list.

Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter display ACTIVE?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch connector.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the driver door jamb switch and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM data list.

Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter display ACTIVE?

Test the driver door jamb switch signal circuit for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door jamb switch ground circuit for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the BCM data list.

Does the Key In Ignition parameter display YES?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to:
