Component Illumination

The headlamp and panel dimmer switch will send power out through CKT 9 (BRN) anytime the park lamps are functional. The following components receive power through CKT 9 (BRN) during park lamp operation.

    • Ash tray lamp, G200
    • Foglamp switch
    • Power outside rearview mirror switch
    • Power window switch, LF
    • Window lockout switch, rear
    • Power window switch, LR
    • Power window switch, RR
    • Garage door opener lamp
    • Headlamp control module

CKT 150 (BLK) carries the ground signal for the dome lamps through ground G200, interior lamp control module through ground G202, and console lamps through ground G400.

Illuminated Entry

The interior lamp control module supplies a ground path for the interior courtesy lighting. When the interior lamp control module receives a signal from any of the door jamb switches in the vehicle indicating that a door has been opened. This signal will come from CKT 157 (TAN) off of one of the door jamb switches. When the interior lamp control module receives a signal form the door jamb switches, the module provides a ground path for CKT 156 (WHT), which in turn lights all of the interior courtesy lighting. Lighting will remain on for 20 seconds or until the ignition switch is in the on position, whichever occurs first.

Underhood Lamp

The underhood lamp allows lighting of the engine compartment while the hood is opened. Power is supplied to the lamp from the HORN fuse, located in the underhood fuse-relay center, through CKT 740 (ORN). Ground for the lamp is supplied by the attached braided ground strap.

Component Illumination

The headlamp and panel dimmer switch will send power out through CKT 9 (BRN) anytime the park lamps are functional. The following components receive power through CKT 9 (BRN) during park lamp operation. The grounds for the components follows.

Illuminated Entry

The body control module (BCM) supplies power and ground for the interior courtesy lighting. Refer to body control module (BCM). The BCM receives a signal from any of the door jamb switches in the vehicle indicating that a door has been opened. This signal will come from either CKT 159 (TAN), (Drivers Door) or CKT 328 (PPL), (Passenger or Cargo Doors). Constant power, provided by the BCM, is supplied to the following components through CKT 40 (ORN):

    • Courtesy Lamps, both Left and Right IP
    • Courtesy Lamps, all doors

CKT 157 (TAN) is the signal return to the BCM. When the headlamp and dimmer switch is in the dome lamp defeat position, the power/ground connection is broken causing the courtesy lamps not to illuminate during the opening of any door(s).

If no doors are open and the ignition is in the Run or Accessory position, the BCM still supplies power. However, the headlamp and panel dimmer switch must be turned to the courtesy position for the courtesy lamps to light. The headlamp and panel dimmer switch provides ground for the circuit through CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G200.

Dome, Reading, & Vanity Lamps

The body control module (BCM) also provides power through CKT 40 (ORN) to the dome, reading, vanity mirrors, automatic day/night rearview mirror with compass, and the power outside rearview mirror switch. The dome and reading lamps have a push button switch that must be activated in order to light. CKT 150 (WHT) provides a ground path to ground G400 for circuit completion. CKT 156 (WHT) also supplies power when any of the entry lights need illumination.

In order to light the vanity mirrors, the sunvisor needs to be pulled down, giving access to the mirror itself. Ground for the mirrors runs through CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G200.

The IP compartment box light works the same as the vanity mirrors.
