Starter Contact End Frame

Notice: Refer to Engine Emission Notice in the Preface section.




1. Remove the through-bolts (2).
2. Remove the contact end frame bolts (1).
3. Remove the frame with the spacer (3).

Brush Holder Assembly and the Frame Assembly from the Armature Set

1. Remove the starter motor terminal M nut (1).
2. Remove the brush holder assembly (2).



3. Remove the field frame assembly from the armature set (1).

Solenoid Assembly

1. Remove the solenoid screws (1).
2. Remove the magnetic switch (3).
3. Remove the spring (2).

Armature Set and Solenoid

1. Remove the armature set (4).
2. Remove the rubber sealer (3).
3. Remove the shift lever plate (6).
4. Remove the shift lever (5).
5. Remove the solenoid (2).
6. Remove the gasket  (1).

Armature Set and Solenoid

1. Install the gasket (1).
2. Install the solenoid (2).
3. Install the shift lever (5) and shift lever plate (6).
4. Install the rubber seal (3).
5. Install the armature set (4).

Solenoid Assembly

1. Install the spring (2).
2. Install the magnetic switch (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the solenoid screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the solenoid assembly screws to 6-8 N·m (16 lb in).

Brush Holder Assembly and the Frame Assembly to the Armature Set

1. Install the field frame assembly (1) to the armature set.



2. Install the brush holder assembly (2).
3. Install the starter motor terminal M nut (1).

Tighten
Tighten the starter motor terminal M nut to 9-12 N·m (80-106 lb in).

Starter Contact End Frame

1. Install the frame and spacer (3).
2. Install the contact end frame bolts (1).
3. Install the through-bolts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the through-bolts to 4-6 N·m (35-53 lb in).
