A road test is carried out to asses the problem accurately and as a post-maintenance check.

  1. Check the AT fluid level and condition. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  2. Drive the vehicle to check that the shift points concur with the shift diagram. Check that neither shift shock nor noise occur.

Important: 

   • When carrying out the road test, pay attention tot he traffic situation and keep in mind.
   • The shift diagram shows the speed at which shifting starts. the vehicle speed at which shifting has been completed when accelerating differs 2-8 km/h from that of the diagram. Refer to Shift Speed .

"P" Range Test

Caution: When performing this check, the vehicle could begin to move. Personal injury or property damage may result. Make sure there is enough room in front of the vehicle, in case the vehicle begins to roll. Be ready to apply the regular brake immediately should the vehicle begin to move.

  1. Select a surface with more than 5 degree gradient. Park the vehicle on an upward slope and select "P" range. Release the parking brake to check that the vehicle does not move.
  2. Under the same conditions, check that the vehicle moves when the selector lever is moved from "P" range to the other ranges.
  3. Similarly, carry out the test on a downward slope.
