Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1698082  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. If equipped, remove the oil pan skid plate and bolts.

  3. Object Number: 1876999  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (4) from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.

  5. Object Number: 1877000  Size: SH
  6. Remove the CKP sensor bolt and sensor.

Installation Procedure

Important: When installing the CKP sensor, make sure the sensor is fully seated before tightening the bolt. A poorly seated CKP sensor may perform erratically and may set false diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).


    Object Number: 1877000  Size: SH

    Important: Do not reuse the original O-ring seal.

  1. If reinstalling the old CKP sensor, install a NEW O-ring seal onto the sensor.
  2. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the CKP sensor and bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (4) to the CKP sensor.

  7. Object Number: 1698082  Size: SH
  8. If equipped, position the oil pan skid plate and install the bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Perform the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure. Refer to Control Module References .
