The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may question if their vehicle should have the Passenger Presence System (PPS), a passenger On/Off air bag switch, or the passenger air bag on/off indicators in the overhead console.

1500 ALL Models

Have Passenger Presence System (PPS) as standard equipment RPO AL0. There will be a passenger air bag On/Off indicator located in the overhead console and NO passenger air bag On/Off switch.

2500/3500 Reg. and Extended Cab Models

Does not have Passenger Presence System (PPS). There will be a passenger air bag On/Off indicator located in the overhead console and a passenger air bag On/Off switch (RPO C99) located in the lower glove box.

2500/3500 Crew Cab Models

Does not have Passenger Presence System (PPS). There is no passenger air bag On/Off indictor and no passenger air bag On/Off switch. The passenger air bag will always be turned on.

Hummer H2

Does not have Passenger Presence System (PPS). There will be passenger air bag On/Off indicator located in the overhead console and a passenger air bag On/Off switch (RPO C99) located in the glove box.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
