The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some vehicles may have a concern of Transmission or Transfer Case ATF leak at the propshaft slip yoke welch plug. This condition may be mistaken for a leak from the transmission or transfer case output shaft seal. If necessary use automatic transmission fluid dye to help isolate the source of the leak. When diagnosing this concern, be sure to thoroughly clean the area and road test the vehicle to verify the source of the leak. The condition may be caused by burrs on the slip yoke welch plug, preventing a good seal against the yoke.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Replace the propshaft slip yoke if this condition is verified.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
