1996-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada
with a 4.3L Engine (VIN W - RPO L35) Goodwrench Replacement Engine



This PI was created to remove the suggestion of replacing the timing chain, cam sprocket, and crank sprocket. Please discard PIP3858.


The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

On rare occasions, a SES light and P1345 DTC may be experienced immediately after a Goodwrench replacement engine is installed.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern and this occurred immediately after installing a Goodwrench replacement engine, follow SI repair procedures and replace the camshaft using the GMSPO catalog part number. To complete the repair, perform a Crankshaft Position Variation Learn with the Tech 2.

Important: If this corrects the concern, please email the engine build date and serial number to randy.mccrite@gm.com. The build date and serial number are located on a tag that is attached to the left side of the engine block as shown in 02-06-01-026.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
