RADIO/CASSETTE TEMPERATURE HOT AFTER EXTENDED PLAY

SUBJECT: RADIO/CASSETTE TEMPERATURE HOT AFTER EXTENDED PLAY (DRILL HOLES FOR INCREASED VENTILATION)

MODELS: 1994-95 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK S/T PICKUP 1995 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK S/T UTILITY

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE CASSETTE TAPE IS EXTREMELY HOT AFTER EXTENDED PLAY TIMES.

CAUSE:

THE HEAT GENERATED FROM THE SOUND SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL, AND HVAC COMPONENTS IS NOT PROVIDED SUFFICIENT VENTILATION.

CORRECTION:

DRILL NINE (9) 1/2 INCH HOLES INTO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL USING THE ATTACHED TEMPLATE (SEE FIGURE 1 FOR TEMPLATE PLACEMENT).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE THE RADIO/CASSETTE PLAYER (REFERENCE 1994-95 S/T MODEL SERVICE MANUAL). 2. DRILL NINE HOLES INTO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL USING THE ATTACHED TEMPLATE (SEE FIGURE 1 FOR TEMPLATE PLACEMENT). HOLES SHOULD BE DRILLED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE RADIO OPENING.

IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE AREA BELOW IS CLEAR PRIOR TO DRILLING.

3. INSTALL THE RADIO/CASSETTE PLAYER.
