FORWARD CLUTCH PLATE ASSEMBLY NEW STEEL PLATE P/N'S 700-4R

Model and Year 1982-85 THM 700-R4

At the start of production of the 1985 THM 700-R4 transmission, ALL MODELS will be built with thicker steel clutch plates and thinner composition clutch plates in the forward clutch assembly.

NOTICE: THE THICKNESS CHANGE IN THE PLATES DOES NOT AFFECT THE OVERALL "STACK UP" DIMENSION FOR THE FORWARD CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WHEN USED IN SETS AS SHOWN BELOW. DO NOT MIX THE NEW PLATES WITH PLATES FOR TRANSMISSIONS BUILT PRIOR TO THE 1985 MODEL YEAR. USE A MICROMETER TO INSURE THE PROPER PLATE USAGE.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
