OIL FILTER REMOVAL TOOL 2.8L ENGINE

Due to limited accessability of the oil filter, to remove the filter it is necessary to use the Kent-Moore oil filter cup wrench #J34027 as follows:

1. Place the Kent-Moore tool over the end of the filter. Insert a long (12" or longer) 1/2" drive extension bar into the center drive position of the cup wrench by way of the inner fender well, going over and past the tire.

2. A 1/2" drive ratchet or pull bar may now be used on the extension within the well to loosen the filter.

3. Lubricate the seal on the new filter to insure proper installation. Torque oil filter to 16-23 N.m or 12-17 ft. lbs. Do not overtorque.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
