DUST AND/OR COLD AIR DRAWN THROUGH FRONT DOORS

Model and Year: 1982-1984 S/T TRUCKS

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Powder dust and air are being drawn into the passenger compartments of some S/T model trucks through the front doors. Vehicles driven on dusty dirt roads can draw dust into the truck through the door louvres. This dirt then settles on the interior surfaces of the vehicle. Air can also be felt at the interior door handles and is annoying during the cold weather months.

To repair 1982-84 model S/T trucks which exhibit one or both of the con- ditions described above, it will be necessary to install new door lock and louvre seals. The door lock seal is held in place by the striker bolt spacers, providing a seal at the door lock. In addition the seal placed behind the door louvres will restrict both dust and air entry into the cab.

1985 trucks have redesigned door systems which incorporate a new one way pressure relief valve. This valve restricts air and road dirt entry into the cab.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
