Tools Required

J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the rear brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.



3. Remove the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
4. Remove the parking brake cable from the backing plate using the J 37043 .



5. Remove the wheel bearing and hub. Refer to Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement-Rear in Rear Suspension.
6. Remove the backing plate (5).

1. Install the backing plate (5).
2. Install the wheel bearing and hub. Refer to Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement-Rear in Rear Suspension.
3. Install the parking brake cable to the backing plate.
4. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
5. Install the rear brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement.
6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
