Power Steering Pump Replacement Gasoline Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1290091  Size: SH
  1. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the electronic variable orifice (EVO) solenoid actuator.

  3. Object Number: 1290079  Size: SH
  4. Position a drain pan to catch the power steering fluid that will drain from the high-pressure hose after it is disconnected from the power steering pump.
  5. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Disconnect the high-pressure fitting from the power steering pump.
  7. Position a drain pan to catch the power steering fluid that will drain from the supply hose after it is disconnected from the power steering pump.
  8. Disconnect the supply hose from the power steering pump.

  10. Remove the bolt from the front right side of the power steering pump.

  11. Object Number: 1290095  Size: SH
  12. Remove the 2 power steering pump bolts and remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the power steering pump into the vehicle and install the 2 power steering pump bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Swing the power steering pump bracket down and install the front right side bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten both of the right side power steering pump bracket bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  5. Connect the supply hose to the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 1290097  Size: SH
  7. Connect the high-pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the high-pressure hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  9. Connect the EVO solenoid actuator.

  10. Object Number: 1290090  Size: SH
  11. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  12. Refill the power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Replacement Diesel Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle. Use a rag in order to absorb any spilled fluid.
  3. Remove the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector at the Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) solenoid actuator.
  6. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Loosen the fitting (2) and remove the pressure pipe (1) from the power steering pump outlet.
  8. Loosen the hose clamp (4) and remove the supply hose (3) from the power steering pump inlet.
  9. Remove the power steering pump bolts (5, 6, 7) through the pulley holes and remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump in the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts (5, 6, 7) through the pulley holes.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the supply hose (3) and the hose clamp (4) to the pump inlet.
  6. Install the pressure pipe (1) and the fitting (2) to the pump outlet.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure pipe fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Connect the electrical connector at the EVO solenoid actuator.
  9. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  10. Install the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  11. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
