For 1990-2009 cars only
- Inspect the belt for hardening. The belt will have a shiny appearance and will leave no mark when a fingernail is pressed into the backside of the belt.
- Inspect the belt for tooth separation and cracking on the backside of the belt.
- Inspect the belt for abnormal wear and torn areas on the edge of the belt.
- Inspect the belt for missing or severely worn teeth and missing rubber or exposed fibers.
Important: The timing belt should be replaced immediately in the event that defects are found during routine timing belt inspections.
