Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

  3. Remove the right engine mount strut at the upper engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side .

    4. Object Number: 327637 Size: SH
  4. Remove the lower engine mount strut bracket nut.
  5. Remove the lower engine mount strut bracket bolts and the lower engine mount strut bracket.

    6. Object Number: 217748 Size: SH
  6. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.
  7. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  8. Remove the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

  9. Remove the upper engine mount strut bracket bolts.
  10. Remove the upper engine mount strut bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 327736 Size: SH
  1. Install the upper engine mount strut bracket.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the upper engine mount strut bracket bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the upper engine mount strut bracket bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the fuel rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

  4. Install the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.

    5. Object Number: 327637 Size: SH
  5. Install the lower engine mount strut bracket bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the lower engine mount strut bracket bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the lower engine mount strut bracket nut.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the lower engine mount strut bracket nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Install the right engine mount strut to the upper engine mount strut bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side .
  8. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
