  1. Inspect the following items for the excessive wear or for damage:
    2. • The oil pump outer gear (1).
    • The oil pump inner gear (2).
    • The oil pump cover
    • The oil pump body
    • The pressure relief valve
  2. Measure the radial clearance between the oil pump outer gear and the body of the oil pump using a feeler gauge.

    3. Replace the outer gear of the oil pump and/or of the oil pump if the clearance exceeds 0.310 mm (0.0122 in).

  3. Measure the side clearance between the oil pump gears and a straightedge using a feeler gauge.

    4. Replace the gears if the clearance exceeds 0.15 mm (0.0059 in).
