  1. Lubricate the new crankshaft rear main oil seal with Chassis Grease GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent.
  2. Install the rear main seal to the cylinder block with a new gasket.

  3. Object Number: 261691  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the rear main oil seal housing and retaining bolts (1,2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the five rear main oil seal housing retaining bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  6. After installing the rear main oil seal housing, trim any excess gasket material from the cylinder block mating surface.
