Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1838938 Size: SH
  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
  2. Disconnect the chassis EVAP pipe (3) quick connect fitting from the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

  3. Disconnect the EVAP emission canister tube quick connect fitting (2) from the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

    4. Object Number: 1839426 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid.

    5. Object Number: 1839422 Size: SH
  5. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid bracket bolt.
  6. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1839422 Size: SH
  1. Position the EVAP purge solenoid.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the EVAP purge solenoid bracket bolt and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  3. Connect the EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (2) to the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

  4. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the EVAP purge solenoid.

    5. Object Number: 1839730 Size: SH
  5. Connect the EVAP emission canister tube quick connect fitting (2) to the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

    6. Object Number: 1838938 Size: SH
  6. Connect the chassis EVAP pipe (3) quick connect fitting to the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  7. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
