Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement LAT

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1972234 Size: SH
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Remove the right side engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement.
  3. Remove the tensioner spring bolts (1) from the tensioner.
  4. Remove the tensioner spring from the tensioner.

  5. Loosen the drive belt tensioner bolt (1).
  6. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  7. Remove the drive belt tensioner (2) with drive belt tensioner bolt (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1972243 Size: SH

    Important: Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and bolt as an assembly.

  1. Install the lower tensioner bolt into the tensioner.
  2. Position the tensioner assembly in place.
  3. Lower the vehicle.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Caution: To avoid personal injury, only remove the tensioner shipping clip when the tensioner is properly mounted to the engine and the accessory drive belt is in place and properly routed.

  4. Install but do not tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt (1).

    5. Object Number: 1972234 Size: SH
  5. Position the tensioner spring to the tensioner.
  6. Install the tensioner spring bolts (1) to the tensioner.

    7. Tighten

        • Tighten the tensioner spring bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
        • Tighten the lower tensioner bolt to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).
  7. Install the right side engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement.
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  9. Using a 6 point socket on the hex boss on the drive belt tensioner, release the tension and remove the shipping clip by hand. Discard the clip.

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1571145 Size: SH
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Remove the right engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement.
  3. Remove the drive belt tensioner bolt.
  4. Remove the drive belt tensioner.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1571145 Size: SH
  1. Position the drive belt tensioner. Ensure that the tensioner is flush with the front cover.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the drive belt tensioner bolt.

    3. Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  3. Install the right engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement.
  4. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
