Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly.

Preliminary Procedure

1. Remove the seat cushion outer finish panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement.
2. Remove the seat cushion inner finish panel. Refer to Seat Cushion Inner Trim Panel Replacement
3. Remove the seat belt buckle from the seat. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Caution: To avoid personal injuries, re-zero the passenger presence system whenever you remove or replace the seat cushion or trim. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction.

4. When working with the passenger seat re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Control Module References .

Front Seat Cushion Cover

Procedure

1. Remove the rear retainers on the seat cushion cover from the seat frame.
2. Remove the J-strips from the seat frame and recliner rod.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped..
4. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad from the seat frame.
5. When replacing the front passenger seat cushion, you must also replace the inflatable restraint passenger presence system. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System Replacement - Front .

Front Seat Cushion Pad

Procedure

1. Remove the hog rings from the under side of the seat cushion.
2. Pull the cushion cover off of the pad.
