Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement Without RPO LAT

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1961286  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
  2. Remove and discard the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  3. Remove the master cylinder reservoir bolt (1).

  4. Object Number: 1961289  Size: SH
  5. Remove the reservoir (1) from the master cylinder.

  6. Object Number: 1961294  Size: SH
  7. Remove the fluid level indicator switch (1) from the master cylinder.
  8. Compress the locking tabs on the switch from the underside of the master cylinder reservoir.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the reservoir with denatured alcohol.
  2. Dry the reservoir with filtered, non-lubricated compressed air.

  3. Object Number: 1961294  Size: SH
  4. Install the fluid level indicator switch (1) to the master cylinder.
  5. Ensure the locking tabs on the switch are fully engaged to the master cylinder reservoir.

  6. Install the reservoir (1) to the master cylinder.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the master cylinder reservoir bolt (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  10. Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
  11. Fill the master cylinder reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1219209  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake master cylinder mounting nuts from the booster and position the master cylinder to gain access to the brake fluid level sensor but do not disconnect the brake lines. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1226007  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid level sensor.

  4. Object Number: 1226075  Size: SH
  5. Using needle nose pliers carefully depress the retaining tabs on the end of the brake fluid level sensor.

  6. Object Number: 1226077  Size: SH
  7. Remove the brake fluid level sensor from the master cylinder.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1226077  Size: SH
  1. Align the brake fluid level sensor to the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Press the brake fluid level sensor into the master cylinder reservoir, ensure the retaining tabs click into place.

  3. Object Number: 1226007  Size: SH
  4. Connect the electrical connector to the brake fluid level sensor.

  5. Object Number: 1219209  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure the gasket on the outside barrel of the master cylinder is positioned properly and is free of cuts and tears.

  6. Install the brake master cylinder to the booster assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
