  1. Install NEW valve rocker arm cover grommets and use NEW valve rocker arm cover bolts if they are serviced with the grommet.
  2. Important: All gasket-mating surfaces need to be free of oil and foreign material. Use GM P/N 12346139 (Canadian P/N 10953463) or equivalent to clean surfaces.

  3. Install the valve rocker arm cover gasket into the valve rocker arm cover.

  4. Object Number: 190588  Size: SH
  5. Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent to the surfaces where the cylinder head and intake manifold meet (1).
  6. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Use an alternating criss-cross pattern when tightening the valve rocker cover bolts. Failure to do so may result in oil leakage from the valve cover due to improper seating of the gasket.

  8. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts, if necessary.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube.
  11. Install the PCV clip and tube bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the PCV tube bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
