Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Inspect the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb.

Is the bulb filament open?

Go to Step 9

Use a testlamp connected to a good ground in order to test for battery positive voltage at the rear compartment courtesy lamp connector.

Does the testlamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Test for a high resistance or an open in the rear compartment courtesy lamp switched circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch control circuit open?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire across the rear compartment lamp switch connector bypassing the switch contacts.
  3. Reinstall the rear compartment lamp if removed.

Does the rear compartment lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in the rear compartment lamp switch control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the rear compartment lamp switch ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the rear compartment lamp battery positive voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb. Refer to Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp Replacement .
