Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 414408  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the switch electrical connector.

  2. Object Number: 104615  Size: SH
  3. Remove the attaching bolts.

  4. Object Number: 104616  Size: SH
  5. Remove the park/neutral position switch assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Place the shift shaft in the N (Neutral) position.
  2. Align the flats of the shift shaft to the flats in the park/neutral switch.

  3. Object Number: 104615  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the park/neutral position switch mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Connect the switch electrical connector.

  7. Object Number: 104615  Size: SH

    Important: Ensure that the engine will only start in P (Park) or N (Neutral). Readjust the switch if the engine will start in any other position.

  8. Place the transmission control shifter assembly in the N (Neutral) notch in the detent plate.
  9. Loosen the park/neutral position switch attaching bolts.
  10. Rotate the switch on the shifter assembly in order to align the service adjustment hole with the carrier tang hole.
  11. Insert a 2.34 mm (3/32 in) maximum diameter gauge pin to a depth of 9.0 mm (9/64 in).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
