Draining Procedure - Up to 29 May 2007

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.

    Caution: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement .

  4. Using a flat blade tool, remove the primary fuel tank module cover (1).
  5. Notice: Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service in the Preface section.

  6. Disconnect the fuel line (1) from the feed port (2) on the MRA (modular reservoir assembly).
  7. Important: Up to 26 Litres (7 gallons) of residual fuel may remain in the secondary side of the fuel tank.

  8. Connect a commercially available fuel pump to the feed port (1) on the MRA (modular reservoir assembly).
  9. Operate the fuel pump and drain the fuel into an approved fuel container.
  10. Remove the fuel drain hose.

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  5. Disconnect the fuel feed line (1) from the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Important: Up to 26 Litres (7 gallons) of residual fuel may remain in the secondary side of the fuel tank.

  7. Connect a commercially available fuel pump to the fuel feed line (1).
  8. Operate the commercially available fuel pump and drain the fuel into an approved fuel container.
  9. Disconnect the commercially available fuel pump from the fuel feed line (1).
  10. If the tank is not being removed, connect the fuel feed line (1) to the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
