Disassembly Procedure
- Clamp the halfshaft bar in a vise.
- Remove the deflector ring (1) from CV joint outer race with a brass drift and a hammer. Discard the deflector ring (1).
Important: Use soft metal or wood in order to protect the halfshaft bar.
Assembly Procedure
- Position and square up a new deflector ring (1) at the press diameter of CV outer race.
- The fabricated tool consist of the following items:
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nut until the deflector bottoms against shoulder of CV outer
race using a fabricated tool.
