Circuit Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors the function of the fluid flow switch to assure that the switch opens and closes properly.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The EBCM has received a serial data message from the powertrain control module (PCM) indicating that the engine is running.
    • The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The EBCM detects an open fluid flow switch for 4.4 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The service brake soon indicator turns ON.
    • A fast rate audible chime turns ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present and you use the scan tool Clear DTCs function.

Diagnostic Aids

This DTC may be caused by a fluid flow switch that sticks open intermittently.

Thoroughly inspect connections or circuitry that may cause an intermittent malfunction. Refer to Testing for Electrical Intermittents , Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections , Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
