Important:  All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

Transmitter Programming Procedure (Domestic)

  1. Connect a jumper wire between the keyless entry program enable signal circuit of the data link connector and a good ground.
  2. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 10 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
  3. Important: Program additional transmitters within 1 minute of the previously programmed transmitter.

  4. Press and hold any button on the next transmitter to be programmed within 1 minute of the previously programmed transmitter. After a delay of approximately 2 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
  5. Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
  6. Remove the jumper wire from the data link connector in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
  7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

Transmitter Programming Procedure (Export)

An override code is used to disable the vehicle immobilizer module (VIM) and allow keyless entry transmitter programming. The override code is a 5 digit number which is entered into the VIM at the factory. The VIM override code may be entered manually or with a scan tool.

To determine the code and enter the override mode manually, perform the following:

  1. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder
  2. Cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON within 2 seconds.
  3. The security indicator will flash the number of times equal to the first digit of the override code.

  4. Press the brake pedal to enter the digit.
  5. The security indicator will twelve times within 4 seconds in order to verify the input of the digit.

  6. Repeat the previous step to enter the next 4 digits of the override code as the digits are flashed by the security indicator.

If the incorrect override code is entered the security indicator will turn off immediately and the VIM does not enter the override mode. When the correct override code is entered the security indicator will illuminate for approximately 10 seconds. The immobilizer is inactive and the transmitters may be programmed.

Perform the following while the security indicator is illuminated in order to program the transmitters:

  1. Press any button on the first transmitter.
  2. Pause for at least 1 second.
  3. Press the same transmitter button a second time.
  4. The security indicator will flash 12 times to verify successful programming of the transmitter and then remain illuminated for approximately 10 seconds.

  5. Perform the previous steps in order program up to 3 additional transmitters.
