    • J 41220 Oil Slinger Remover
    • J 41221 Oil Seal Installer

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the crankcase.
  2. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  3. Remove the flywheel housing. Refer to Engine Flywheel Housing Removal .
  4. Remove the oil pick up tube and the O-ring.
  5. Important: Do not damage the crankshaft when removing the oil slinger.

  6. Using the J 41220 , remove the oil slinger from the crankshaft.

  7. Object Number: 736784  Size: SH
  8. Remove the idler gears with the shafts from the cylinder block.
  9. Remove the oil pump with the drive gear from the cylinder block.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 736784  Size: SH
  1. Install the idler gear shaft to the cylinder block.
  2. Apply clean engine oil to the bushing inside the cylinder block.

  3. Object Number: 736747  Size: SH

    Important: Do not apply sealant over hole (1). This will restrict the flow of oil into the cylinder block.

  4. Apply RTV sealant (Three Bond 1141E or equivalent) to the edge of the oil pump.

  5. Object Number: 736748  Size: SH
  6. Install the oil pump to the cylinder block.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the bolts to the oil pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump bolts to 24 N·m (17 lb ft).

  10. Install the idler gear to the idler gear shaft.
  11. Rotate the crankshaft so that the number 1 piston is on top dead center.
  12. Important: The idler gear shaft oil port must be facing the cylinder block.

  13. Align the crankshaft gear mark L and the idler gear mark O.
  14. Install the idler gear bolt.
  15. Tighten

    1. First stage: Tighten the idler gear bolt to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).
    2. Second stage: Tighten the idler gear bolt to 75 degrees.
