Removal Procedure
  1. Block the wheels.
  2. Support the propeller shaft.
  3. Mark the universal joints and slip joints with alignment marks.

    4. Object Number: 572986 Size: SH
  4. Remove the four bolts (3) from the rear axle front unit yoke.

    5. Object Number: 572980 Size: SH
  5. Remove the four bolts (3) from the rear axle rear unit yoke.
  6. Remove the propeller shaft.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install NEW universal joints propeller shaft. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement.
  2. Support the propeller in the installed position.
  3. Install propeller shaft.

    4. Object Number: 572986 Size: SH
  4. Install the four bolts (3) to the rear axle front unit yoke.

    5. Object Number: 572980 Size: SH
  5. Install the four bolts (3) to the rear axle rear unit yoke.

    6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Tighten the propeller shaft half round end yoke bolts. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

    7. Inspect the propeller shaft for alignment and phasing.

  7. Lubricate the universal joints and the slip joints. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
  8. Remove the wheel blocks.
