Drive Belt Replacement Drive Belt and Tensioner Replacement

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 788500  Size: SH
  1. Install a breaker bar to the tensioner.
  2. Rotate the belt tensioner counterclockwise to relieve tension on the belt.

  3. Object Number: 788505  Size: SH
  4. If equipped with A/C, remove the belt from the pulleys and the tensioner.
  5. Slowly release tension on the belt tensioner.
  6. Remove the breaker bar from the tensioner.
  7. Clean and inspect the surfaces of all the pulleys.

  8. Object Number: 788509  Size: SH
  9. If required, remove the bolt and tensioner from the bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 788509  Size: SH
  1. If required, install the tensioner with the bolt.

  2. Object Number: 788500  Size: SH
  3. Route the belt around all the pulleys except the tensioner.
  4. Install the breaker bar to the belt tensioner.
  5. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise to relieve tension on the tensioner.
  6. Route the belt around the tensioner.

  7. Object Number: 788505  Size: SH
  8. If equipped with A/C route the drive belt around the tensioner.
  9. Slowly release the tension on the tensioner.
  10. Remove the breaker bar from the tensioner.
  11. Inspect the belt for proper installation and alignment.

Drive Belt Replacement Water Pump Belt Replacement

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 788500  Size: SH
  1. Remove the outer drive belt.
  2. Loosen tension on the idler pulley by loosening the adjuster bolt.
  3. Remove the water pump belt.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 788500  Size: SH
  1. Route the water pump belt around the pulleys.
  2. Tighten tension on the idle by tightening the adjuster bolt.
  3. Inspect the water pump belt for correct installation and routing.

  4. Object Number: 814029  Size: SH
  5. Install the shaft and idle pulley, then tighten temporarily.
  6. Install the idle pulley adjust bolt and rotate to adjust the belt tension.
  7. Push the middle of the drive belt with a force of 98 N·m (22 lb) and inspect the belt for deflection.
  8. Water Pump Drive Belt Deflection
    Approximately 7 mm (0.28 in)

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Tighten the lock nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the lock nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  11. Install the outer drive belt.
