Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  2. Object Number: 690593  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor harness connector (3) at the CMP sensor (1).
  4. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt (2).
  5. Remove the CMP sensor (1).
  6. Inspect the CMP sensor for wear, cracks, or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced.

Installation Procedure

Important: Inspect the CMP sensor O-ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the O-ring. Lubricate the new O-ring with engine oil before installing.

  1. Install the CMP sensor (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the CMP sensor retaining bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Connect the CMP sensor harness connector (3).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
