Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the headlamp bezels. Refer to Headlamp Bezel Replacement .
  2. Remove the headlamp or lamps. Refer to Sealed Beam Headlamp Replacement .
  3. Remove the hood handle. Refer to Hood Handle Replacement .
  4. Remove the grille hood air. Refer to Hood Air Grille Replacement .
  5. Remove the grille emblem. Refer to Radiator Grille Emblem/Nameplate Replacement .
  6. Remove the park/turn signal lamp. Refer to Parking and Turn Signal Lamp Replacement .
  7. Remove the grille, if necessary. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  8. Place a padded table in front of the vehicle.
  9. Tilt the hood forward.
  10. Support the hood.

  11. Remove the cotter and clevis pin where the check cable attaches to the radiator support brace.
  12. Ease the hood onto the table.
  13. Remove the headlamp wiring harness connector at the right front of the hood.

  14. Remove the hinge bolt.
  15. With the aid of an assistant, remove the hood.

Installation Procedure
  1. Place the hood on the padded table in front of the vehicle.
  2. Align the hinge bushings to the holes in the hinge bracket.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. With the aid of an assistant, install the hood hinge bolt through the bracket and the hinge.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  4. Connect the harness connector to the headlamp harness at the right front of the hood.
  5. While supporting the hood, align the brace spring to the radiator support brace.

  6. Install the cotter pin and the clevis pin through the following components:
    7. • The brace spring
    • The radiator support bracket
  7. Install the grille, if necessary. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  8. Install the park/turn signal lamp. Refer to Parking and Turn Signal Lamp Replacement .
  9. Install the grille emblem. Refer to Radiator Grille Emblem/Nameplate Replacement .
  10. Install the grille hood-air. Refer to Hood Air Grille Replacement .
  11. Install the hood handle. Refer to Hood Handle Replacement .
  12. Install the headlamp or lamps. Refer to Sealed Beam Headlamp Replacement .
  13. Install the headlamp bezels. Refer to Headlamp Bezel Replacement .
