Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1334881 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable . Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the fuel fill cap in order to relieve the fuel pressure.
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement .
  4. Remove the charge air pipe from the air intake. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe and Outlet Pipe Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the fuel injection control module (FICM) electrical connectors.

    6. Pull the retainers out until the connectors disengage.

  6. Remove and discard the fuel line eyebolts.
  7. Remove and discard the fuel line eyebolt washers from the banjo fittings.

  8. Remove the FICM bolts.
  9. Remove the FICM with insulators.
  10. If necessary, remove the fuel line and engine harness clips from the FICM bracket.

    11. Object Number: 1334906 Size: SH
  11. If necessary, remove the FICM bracket bolts.
  12. If necessary, remove the FICM bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1334906 Size: SH
  1. If necessary, install the FICM bracket.
  2. If necessary, install the FICM bracket bolts.
  3. If necessary, install the fuel line and engine harness clips to the FICM bracket.

    4. Object Number: 1334885 Size: SH

    Important: Ensure that the insulators do not get knocked off when installing the FICM to the bracket.

  4. Install the FICM with insulators.

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the FICM bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (14 lb ft).

  6. Lubricate the NEW eyebolt washers with diesel fuel prior to installing.
  7. Install the NEW eyebolt washers to the banjo fittings.
  8. Install the NEW fuel line eyebolts.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  9. Connect the FICM electrical connectors.

    10. Slide the retainers in to engage the connectors.

  10. Connect the negative battery cable . Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  11. Install the fuel fill cap.
  12. Install the charge air pipe. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe and Outlet Pipe Replacement .
  13. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Replacement .
  14. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel System Priming .
  15. Start the engine. If the engine stalls, repeat the above step.
  16. Once the engine starts, inspect for fuel leaks.
