Removal Procedure
- Drain the air tank. Refer to
Air Brake Reservoir Draining
.
- Disconnect the air line from the exhaust brake actuator snap-to-connect fitting.
- If equipped with a 7.8L, perform the following steps:
| 3.1. | Note the position of the lower exhaust clamp and loosen. |
| 3.2. | Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe from the exhaust brake. |
| 3.3. | Note the position of the top exhaust brake clamp and the exhaust brake. |
| 3.4. | Disconnect the top exhaust brake clamp, the exhaust brake and the gasket from the Turbo. |
- If equipped with a 6.6L, remove 8 bolts, nuts and exhaust brake.
Installation Procedure
- If equipped with a 7.8L, perform the following steps:
| 1.1. | Install the new gasket, the exhaust brake on the Turbo with the upper clamp in original position. |
| 1.2. | Install the lower manifold pipe to exhaust brake with clamp in original position. |
- If equipped with a 6.6L, install the exhaust brake to exhaust with 8 nuts and bolts.
- Connect the air line to the snap-to-connect fitting on the exhaust brake actuator.
- Refill air tank. Refer to
Air Brake Reservoir Filling
.
- Check system for leaks.
