Models:2003-2005 Chevrolet Kodiak C5500 Series
2003-2005 GMC Topkick C5500 Series
with 6,804 kg (15,000 lb) Rear Axle (RPO H08)
Built Prior to June 21, 2004

A new more robust rear wheel speed sensor and retainer is now available for the H08 axle in vehicles that operate primarily in rural, off-paved road environments. The sand, dirt and gravel generated from the road may get lodged in the teeth of the reluctor ring for the rear wheel speed sensors. The reluctor ring may then grind the end of the sensor down to the coil and eventually through the coil in extreme cases.

The new wheel speed sensor has a metal sheathing over the epoxy base that will protect the sensor from dirt intrusion. This new sensor is compatible with the current system. The retainer for the sensor is specific to the new sensor. The new retainer must also be installed along with the new style sensor.
