  15. Inspect the frame mounting hole for the following conditions:
  16. • Cracks
    • Wear
    • Burrs
  17. Diagnose the shock absorbers. Refer to Suspension Strut and Shock Absorber Testing - On Vehicle .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 201719 Size: SH
  1. Install the flat washer (6) and the insulator (13) onto the shock absorber lower stem.
  2. Install the shock absorber lower stem into the lower mounting bracket (7).
  3. Install the flat washer (4) and the insulator (3) onto the shock absorber upper stem.
  4. Install the shock absorber upper stem into the upper mounting bracket (14).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the following components onto the shock absorber lower stem:
  7. 5.1. The insulator (8)
    5.2. The flat washer (9)
    5.3. The nut (10)

    Tighten
Tighten the lower shock absorber nuts (10) to 85 N·m (62 lb ft).

  8. Install the following components onto the shock absorber upper stem:
  9. 6.1. The insulator (2)
    6.2. The flat washer (15)
    6.3. The nut (1)

    Tighten
Tighten the upper shock absorber nuts (1) to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the blocks.
