Exhaust Muffler Replacement Dual

Removal Procedure

Important: The muffler is serviced as a complete assembly and cannot be serviced separately.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General information.
  2. Support the exhaust system.
  3. Remove the catalytic converter from the muffler. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 460738  Size: SH
  5. Remove the muffler from the exhaust hangers.
  6. Clean the catalytic converter and the muffler gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 460738  Size: SH
  1. Install the muffler to the exhaust hangers.
  2. Support the exhaust system.
  3. Install a new gasket to the catalytic converter and the muffler.
  4. Install the catalytic converter to the muffler. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  5. Remove the exhaust system support.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Inspect for exhaust leaks.

Removal Procedure

Important: The muffler is serviced as a complete assembly and cannot be serviced separately.


    Object Number: 212193  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General information.
  2. Support the exhaust system.
  3. Remove the catalytic converter nuts.

  4. Object Number: 892633  Size: SH
  5. Remove the exhaust system from the exhaust hangers.
  6. Clean the catalytic converter and the muffler gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 892633  Size: SH
  1. Install the muffler to the exhaust hangers.
  2. Support the exhaust system.

  3. Object Number: 212193  Size: SH
  4. Install a new gasket to the catalytic converter and the muffler.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the catalytic converter nuts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  8. Remove the exhaust system support.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Inspect for exhaust leaks.
