Verify that the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Select the faulty rearview mirror.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the outside rearview mirror.
  3. Connect a test light between the down direction circuit of the motor feed to the harness connector and B+.
  4. Set the select switch to the faulty rearview mirror.
  5. Press and hold the mirror switch to DOWN.

Did the test light illuminate?

Inspect the down direction circuit of the motor feed for a poor connection. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the motor pack to the outside mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Test the down direction circuit of the motor feed for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the down direction circuit of the motor feed for a poor connection. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the switch on the outside rearview mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement .
