  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine Off.
  3. Roll down the driver's window.
  4. Manually lock all the doors.
  5. While monitoring the Key Cylinder Unlock input signal on the scan tool, insert a key in the driver's door lock cylinder, unlock the door with the key, and hold the key in the unlock position.

Does the scan tool display that the Key Cylinder Unlock input is active?

Test the Key Cylinder Unlock input circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Probe the Key Cylinder Unlock input at the Key Cylinder switch with a test lamp connected to a good ground.
  2. Insert a key into the Key Cylinder switch and turn the key to the unlock position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Test the Key Cylinder Unlock switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the Key Cylinder Unlock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Key Cylinder Unlock switch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement .

  1. Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Perform the set-up procedure for the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
