  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine Off.
  3. Read the current personalization setting for the automatic door lock mode. Refer to Vehicle Personalization/Customization for a description of mode functions.

Is the personalization setting correct?

Verify that the fault is present.

Verify that the power door locks operate correctly.

  1. Close all the doors.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to retrieve the status of the door ajar inputs.

Do all doors indicate inactive (door closed)?

Test the door ajar input circuits to the BCM for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the defective door ajar switch. Refer to one of the following procedures:

  1. Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Perform the set-up procedure for the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
