Connect a test light between the battery positive feed circuit on the switch connector of the outside rearview mirror to a known good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Test for an open, a high resistance, or a short to ground in the battery positive feed circuit on the switch of the outside rearview mirror. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection in the battery positive feed circuit to the switch of the outside rearview mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the switch to the outside rearview mirror.
  2. Using a test light connected to B+, probe each mirror motor feed circuit in the door harness wiring.

Did the test light illuminate for any of the circuits?

  1. Repair the short to ground in the faulty circuit.
  2. Replace the fuse.

Connect a test light between the battery positive feed and the ground circuit of the switch to the outside rearview mirror.
