Verify that only one power window is inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Press the lockout switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition to the LOCK position.
  3. Disconnect the inoperative window switch harness connector.
  4. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  5. Use a test light in order to probe the control circuit of the master switch lockout between the harness connector of the inoperative window switch and ground.

Does the test lamp light ?

Go to Step 4

  1. Use a test light in order to probe the UP control circuit of the inoperative window at the switch harness connector.
  2. Operate the UP control for the window at the left front window switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair a poor connection or open in the control circuit of the master switch lockout.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Use a test light in order to probe the DOWN control circuit of the inoperative window at the switch harness connector.
  2. Operate the DOWN control for the window at the left front window switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

  1. Turn the ignition to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect the window switch.
  3. Disconnect the window regulator motor.

  4. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  5. Use a test light in order to probe the UP directional drive circuit of the window regulator motor.
  6. Operate the UP switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Turn the ignition to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the left front window switch.
  3. Use a Digital MultiMeter (DMM) in order to test for continuity in the control circuit .

Is the control circuit continuous?

  1. Keep the ignition in the RUN position.
  2. Use a test light in order to probe the DOWN directional drive circuit of the window regulator motor.
  3. Operate the DOWN switch.

Does the test light illuminate?

Replace the window regulator motor. Refer to one of the following procedures:

  1. Turn the ignition to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the window switch.
  3. Use a DMM in order to test for continuity in the directional drive circuit.

Is the drive circuit continuous?

Test for a short to ground in the control circuit.
