Electronic Traction Control Switch Replacement Impala

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 601131  Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake, if equipped with column shift.
  2. Position the transaxle shift control indicator to 1, if equipped with column shift.
  3. Adjust the steering wheel for access.
  4. Remove the ignition switch cylinder bezel.

  5. Object Number: 601125  Size: SH
  6. Remove the LH instrument panel (IP) fuse block access opening cover.
  7. Remove the LH IP cluster trim plate screws.
  8. Start at the left side of the IP cluster trim plate. Grasp the trim plate and carefully pull rearward. Disengage enough IP cluster trim plate retainers in order to easily access the traction control switch.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the traction control switch.
  11. Remove the traction control switch from the IP cluster trim plate.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the traction control switch to the IP cluster trim plate.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the traction control switch.

  3. Object Number: 601125  Size: SH
  4. Carefully press the IP cluster trim plate into the IP trim pad. Make sure all of the retainers are fully engaged.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the LH IP cluster trim plate screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the IP cluster trim plate screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the LH instrument panel (IP) fuse block access opening covers.

  9. Object Number: 601131  Size: SH
  10. Install the ignition switch cylinder bezel.
  11. Return the steering wheel to the original position.
  12. Position the transaxle shift control indicator to Park, if equipped with a column shift.
  13. Push to release the parking brake, if equipped with column shift.

Electronic Traction Control Switch Replacement Monte Carlo

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 578742  Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the front floor console trim plate screw (1).
  3. Position the transaxle shift control lever as required.
  4. Lift the front floor console trim plate up and rearward for access to the traction control switch.

  5. Object Number: 578676  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the traction control switch.
  7. Remove the traction control switch from the floor console trim plate.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 578676  Size: SH
  1. Install the traction control switch to the floor console trim plate.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the traction control switch.

  3. Object Number: 578742  Size: SH
  4. Carefully install the floor console trim plate. Make sure all of the retainers are fully engaged.
  5. Position the transaxle shift control lever to Park.

  8. Tighten
    Tighten the floor console trim plate screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Release the parking brake.
