  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert the tape or CD from the J 39916-A .

Can audio be heard from any speakers?

Can audio be heard from all speakers?

Test all speaker outputs from the radio for a short to ground or a short to voltage. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Does the vehicle have a audio power booster?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the audio power booster speaker connector. Refer to Radio Speaker Amplifier Replacement for service procedure.

Test the battery positive voltage circuit to the audio power booster for an open, short to ground or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Using two fused jumpers at the audio power booster speaker connector, connect the right front speaker outputs from the radio to the right front speaker outputs from the audio power booster in order to bypass the audio power booster.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Adjust the fade and balance to the right front speaker.

Can audio be heard from the right front speaker?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the audio power booster. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Radio and perform the set up procedure for the Radio. Refer to Radio Replacement and Radio Setup for service procedure.
