Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems in Lighting Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Place the turn signal switch to a turn left or a turn right position.

Do the turn signal tamps flash on and off?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Inspect the Turn Signal Fuse.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair a short to ground in the turn signal B+ circuit feed.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step  12

  1. Disconnect the hazard lamp/turn signal lamp flasher.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to a known good ground, probe the turn signal fuse B+ circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair a poor connection or an open in the turn signal fuse B+ circuit.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

  1. Reconnect the hazard lamp/turn signal lamp flasher.
  2. Using a test lamp backprobe the hazard lamp/turn signal flasher between the turn signal flasher circuit and a known good ground.

Does the test light flash on and off?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 11

Using a test lamp backprobe the turn signal switch between the turn signal switch output circuit and a known good ground.

Does the test lamp flash on and off?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Repair a poor connection or an open in the turn signal switch circuit.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the turn signal switch.

Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Replace the hazard lamp/turn signal lamp flasher.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
